Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted anything! We were busy Olivia being sick with a respiratory infection, then I had the flu, plus I have a new addiction to MarioCart! A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks. Since we changed Olivia’s blood pressure medication she has virtually stopped vomiting and has started eating a little better. While she was sick and on stress doses of steroids she was taking almost 50% orally again! Since we’ve stopped the steroids her eating has decreased to about 15-20% but that’s still better than it was! Olivia saw the pulmonologist on Friday. He decided to keep her oxygen the same because she had actually lost weight since he had seen her last. We have increased her feedings again, and she seems to be gaining again. We asked our primary doctor for a referral to a different GI doctor. The one we’ve been seeing just wanted us to put Olivia on pump feedings all day! Olivia’s primary is in agreement with Joe and I that we need to work on decreasing her tube feedings and increase her oral feedings. We saw the new GI doctor last night. I was really happy with that visit. He actually recommended that we stop one of Olivia’s reflux meds because 9 out of 10 times it doesn’t actually work, and it can cause irritability and drowsiness. He wants us to monitor to see if she does better, worse, or the same with out it and make the decision whether to start it back up or continue with out it. Then he gave us a plan to try to increase her oral feedings during the day. This doctor seemed very experienced and knowledgeable, and he was in agreement that the goal should be to get her taking more orally and less in her G-tube.
It’s hard to believe that we’re already planning for Olivia’s 1st birthday! What a fast year! She’s been through so much and come so far!
Hope the new year is bringing good things to all of you!
PEEK!

We're working on solids more and Olivia loves playing with the spoons!

Great news! Olivia is such a little ham - I love the "peek" picture!
Becky!
I'm happy to hear things are heading in the right direction for Olivia and you are seeing progress with her eating - that must be a wonderful feeling for you. I love the pictures of Oliva - I can see her personality shining :-)

So glad to hear that you had a great appointment! Her little face peeking out from under the blanket is just precious.
I'm so glad to hear the great news - good new doctor and more oral feedings! Yay, Olivia!!
We were told by Simon's pediatrician that babies typically "grow out" of reflux by 9 months old. He did keep Simon on the reflux meds until a year old, and we did not have any problems once he was off the meds (actually since he was about 9 months old); so, good luck!
Olivia is so adorable in the photos!! She is such a happy little girl, and she's growing up so fast!
Oh this is great news. I am hoping she continues to thrive with eating! She obviously does not let any appointments get in the way of that super smile! I love the peek picture. It is so darn cute and innocent! I can't believe she is almost 1!
