Olivia saw the pulmonologist on Friday. He was really impressed with how well she was doing. Her oxygen levels were really good, so he decided to try turning down her oxygen. She was at 0.4 liters per minute and we have decreased it to 0.3. Not a huge change, but it’s a step in the right direction. If her numbers are as good next time he said we’d take another step down. I much prefer these baby steps to drastic changes anyway! She also got her first flu shot. When we go back next month she’ll get a flu shot booster and her first RSV shot.
Olivia also tried cereal for the first time last week. She wasn’t a huge fan, but she didn’t hate it either. We’ll keep working on that with her. Hopefully she’ll grow to like it. The photo is before the messy cereal face.
Talking with the med. students went really well. They had some good questions. Olivia behaved really well through the whole thing, except pulling her cannula into her mouth a couple of times. I hope they invite us back to do it again next year.

Love the new blog look! I'm still learning, you other creative girls always impress me! Congrats to Olivia on her weaning down the O2! She is just adorable and an inspiration. My kids never liked rice cereal, it was the oatmeal they loved...and when the fruits and veggies started, they were in heaven! Good luck with the solid food.
Wow! What great news. It seems that the weaning is going in the right direction! Preston was not a fan of the cereal at first, but then would seriously pant for it. It takes a little time, but sooner rather than later they learn to love the food. Fruits are always a huge hit and you can always mix it with the cereal!
Glad to hear the q&a session with the med students was so postive.
Love the new picture-she is such a happy little girl and cute!
Becky!
I'm so glad to hear things are going well for Olivia ... she will be off the oxegyn in no time! The picture of her in the highchair is adorable!

Becky thanks so much for coming over to my Blog and checking it out.
You most certainly add us to your list.
Andrea was also born at 28 weeks. She too was not a fan of the cereal at first. Then learned to love it.
Your little girl is cute. Glad that your appointments went well.
Hi Becky! I've read your blog a couple of times, and I just wanted to say that Olivia is so adorable! Congrats on the weaning of the O2! The only way that I could get Simon to eat cereal at first was by mixing applesauce with it. As Emily and Kim said, fruits are a huge hit.
I meant to tell you with my last comment (was just thinking about it since I need to schedule Simon's flu shot today)that I was so grateful for the Synagis shots. It was tough seeing Simon having to get an extra shot every month for 5 months when they already get so many early on, but it was definitely worth it to reduce the severity if he did get RSV. We were fortunate - he was healthy all through last winter. The NICU thought he would be able to get the Synagis again this year, but he was denied since he is at such a good weight now and doing so well. Anyway, I hope that Olivia stays healthy all winter!!
